Surprisingly, it was hard to find replacements. \u00a0Thermador no longer supplied them, and the 6mm D-shaft was an unusual size for generic replacements. \u00a0The closest I could come was some <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebay.com\/itm\/4-Pack-White-Generic-Design-Stove-Oven-Control-Knob-With-12-Adapters-\/252512073979?hash=item3acae478fb:g:YEQAAOSwaB5XvlDO\">generic knobs off ebay.<\/a>\u00a0 But these didn&#8217;t have the proper stop inside the sleeve, so you couldn&#8217;t push the shaft in before turning it (a safety feature of the Thermador knobs). The print cost about $40, mostly due to UPS&#8217;s idiotic policy of charging for the\u00a0<em>bounding box<\/em> of the print, not the actual print time or material consumption.<\/p>\n<p>The prints from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shapeways.com\">Shapeways<\/a> came out much better:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-66\" src=\"https:\/\/saccade.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ShapewaysSolid-300x294.jpg\" alt=\"shapewayssolid\" width=\"300\" height=\"294\" srcset=\"https:\/\/saccade.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ShapewaysSolid-300x294.jpg 300w, https:\/\/saccade.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ShapewaysSolid-768x754.jpg 768w, https:\/\/saccade.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ShapewaysSolid-1024x1005.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/saccade.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ShapewaysSolid.jpg 1394w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><br \/>\nThe basic Shapeways plastic doesn&#8217;t have any issues with overhanging parts, so they&#8217;re printed in one piece. \u00a0These ran about $15 each. \u00a0They won&#8217;t have to last long, as we&#8217;ll likely replace the stove soon anyway .<\/p>\n<p>The STL files for the knobs are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thingiverse.com\/thing:2480608\">available on Thingiverse<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We have an aging Thermador gas range. \u00a0One of the original plastic knobs broke.
